Spring Break

We came over to Springdale, Arkansas yesterday.  We did hit slush on the last 20 miles or so.  We saw 15 cars off the road, in the ditch or medium.  Our plans were to leave Springdale today after Sunday School. We were going to drive down to Longview, TX with our friends, Dick and Anne.  Those plans got changed!  We ended up getting about 12 inches of snow.  We are going to be leaving in the morning.  We are going to be cooking for Tech Support's annual board meeting.
Anne decided to put our her snowman dishes!

These are some views from their back yard.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I have never done corn beef and cabbage before.  I have had a corn beef in the crock pot since this morning.  It is smelling good.  I will add the cabbage in a little bit and we can have that for supper.

I looks like I'm only getting to this blog about once a week.  Oh, well, at least I am doing that.  My toe has not been real sore.  It's a little tender, but not bad.  It is healing nicely.

I finished another puzzle Tues night.  You would think that is all I have done, wouldn't you?  This is another one that Howard gave me for Christmas.  It was a lot of fun to do.

I thought it might be a little hard with all the green, but it really wasn't.  I think I have one more puzzle left to do.  I won't get to it right away.

Our church has hired a new youth, associate pastor.  I went over Sat morning with some people from the church and we cleaned the house they are renting.  Howard and I took the refrigerator all apart and cleaned it up.  You know how a refrigerator can get.  I guess the last renter had really thrashed the place.  It was all newly painted, new carpeting and new floors in the kitchen and baths now.  We also did a "pounding" and filled the pantry.  It was pretty full the last time I looked.  They moved up from Southern Mississippi on Monday night.  Several of us when over and unloaded the truck when it got there and helped set up things.  Joey and Monica have three little girls, 3 yrs, 18 months and a one month.  She was born by C-section, so Monica has to watch what she lifts. Howard also made cinnamon rolls for them to have for breakfast and a lemon meringue pie.

Howard and I have decided to head up a team to go back to Thailand in Sept.  I think we have two other couples that are praying about going with us.  It will be a lot of work, but is also rewarding to work with the missionary children.

Laurie spend a few days down here last week.  It was good to spend some time with her and she got a much needed R & R.

Toe Surgery (ingrown toenail)

I went to the podiatrist this morning. I did have the surgery done on my toe. He numbed it first and then he cut off both sides of the nail. He said this should help from having the toenail curve around. Maybe it will flatten out. He also clipped the end and he sent everything in for a culture. He says it looks like fungus infection, but he wants to make sure that is what it is. I have been treated for it with 2 -3 rounds of treatment. He said he would not use that medication again. Most of the time that takes care of it. He will wait until the culture comes back to decide. I will take the bandage off tonight. He says that I can go ahead and shower and just dress it. We got a heavy duty antibiotic cream from him that I will put on it every day when I dress it. He told me to just go ahead with my usual activities, but maybe take it easy today and tomorrow. I will hold off on going to the Y until next week. My primary care Dr has started me on an antibiotic medication on Tues, so he said that was great.

Quite the Challange

Someone loaned me this puzzle to do.  It was the only puzzle they had not finished.  I really thought I was going to have to say the same thing, but I finished it last night.  When you get down to the shirts there is really not any markings on them and the color is just the same.

March is here

Where does the time go?  We have been so busy and spring is just around the corner.  We have beautiful sunshine today and the temp is 56 degrees.

We had lots of company this week.  My cousin Butch and his wife stopped through on their way to Florida and on their way home this week.  It was good to spend time with them.  We also had my cousin, Cookie's daughter and family stay with us.  Gerson and Betsy and Jayden are traveling and visiting family and friends.  They are in the process of raising their support. They will be working with the gang youth at the Texas and Mexico border town of McAllen, TX. We sure enjoyed their stay with us. Betsy spoke to our ladies mission group at church and then we had some friends in one night and they gave their testimonies.  Gerson made a us a batch of Bolivian Peanut Soup.  It was delicious!

It looks like a milk base soup, but the base is raw peanuts blended with water. It had lots of veggies in the soup and then when you eat it you put very small fried potato sticks in it.  Yummy.

We also had Larry, Rachel and the boys into supper last night.  Charlie and Marge Wilson came also. They are friends that we have met through Larry and Rachel.  We made black beans and yellow rice for dinner.

I got my new hearing aides this week.  I really like them.  I didn't know at first if I really wanted the kind that fits over the ear, but these are quite small and are not really noticeable. I do hear  much better with them.  They have blue tooth capabilities, so if I choose, I can wear the sound gate around my neck and then when I talk on the cell phone, I hear in both ears.  I also have an adapter that I use with  the TV and it uses blue tooth to play the sound into my ears.

This is the hearing aide.  I have a ear mold that fits it the ear. It is flesh color and you really don't notice it.  The hearing aide itself fits behind the ear.

This is the sound gate.  I can use it also for my i pod and listen to music using blue tooth.  How neat is that?  I'm very thankful that we were able to get this for me at this time.

I did finish another puzzle.  This is one I borrowed from Howard's sister, Miriam.  Actually she gave it to a friend and I borrowed it from Carolyn.  It is a picture of a people zoo.  The people are in the cages and the animals are walking around looking in on them.  It was a lot of fun doing it.

I am working on another one now that is a duzzy.  If I get it done, I will post a picture, but it won't be right away.
