Happy 90th birthday

We celebrated Mom's birthday on Saturday.  We had dinner at the Crown Plaza and ate in a private dinning room, the Montana Sky.  We had a beautiful view of the city. As it got dark the lights were beautiful.
Mom enjoyed having her kids with here. We have not all been together since Dad died 8 years ago.

Texas Bluebonnets

We had a wonderful week near Austin, TX.  Our friends, Bob and Mary, from CA invited us to join them at their time share when the bluebonnets were blooming.  We did pick the right week.
This is one of my favorites

I did not know what the Texas bluebonnets were until I looked it up online after Bob and Mary asked us to join them.  We did a lot of sight seeing also.  One day we spent in San Antonio and went to the Alamo and walked the river walk.

We also visited the LBJ boyhood home, the LBJ ranch and home where he was born.  We went to the LBJ library in Austin, too.  We visited the capitol building one day in Austin.  We drove over to Fredricksburg.   We enjoyed all the flowers we saw in bloom through out our time there.

I think this was called a prickly poppy.

Spring has Arrived

We have had a beautiful spring.  We had two days last week that were actually 86 degrees.  It was low humidity and it was so nice to have all the windows opened up.  My tulips were really pretty this year.

I love these two color ones.

We got our garden all ready to put in and last Saturday we planted.  It's a little early, but it looks like our weather will be OK, so we are chancing it.  We put in tomatoes, cukes, yellow squash, zucchini, peppers, radishes and green beans.

The Bradford pear trees have been so beautiful this year.  I love the row of them along this street.

These trees are at the entrance of one of our friends house, not too far from us.

Come visit us sometime in the spring.  It is breathtaking.

Trip to Texas

Last month we made a trip down to Longview, Texas.  Our friend, Dick Whiteman is on the board of Missionary Tech Team.  They have their annual board meeting every March.  Howard and I had been asked to cook for it this year.  The board and their wives were there for a few days. We had such a good time.  We have heard Dick and Anne talk about this for years, so it was nice to put faces on people and hear about MTT.

The headquarters were just finishing up a remodel of their buildings.

Of course Howard had to make pies one night for dinner.

Howard had his birthday while we were in Texas.  I had planned on giving him a gift every hour through the day, but it just got too busy.  We had traveled home from Florida with Dick and Anne on time on Anne's birthday and had gone to the dollar store and Goodwill and got her gifts for every hour.  So ,we ended up celebrating Howard's birthday in the evening.  Some of the ladies had gotten him some gifts also.  It was a fun time.

This was his Texas fly swatter.

Breakfast on the Special Plate.

A fun evening.

We spent one day with Dick and Anne and then came on in home.  We were starting to see some blooms in Arkansas.  We stopped at a rest area and the ground cover was beautiful with white and purple flowers.

Red Bud

Yours truly

We had the strangest thing happen right after we had walked down to take a picture of the Redbud tree.  This car whips around and rolls down their window and calls out to us. He said, "You are a long way from California, aren't you?".  He then rolled up his window and drove off.  We had no idea who it was.  We thought at first that something on our car identified that we were from CA, but their wasn't.  It was very strange.  We are assuming that someone recognized us.

Ending 2017

It has been awhile since I have blogged, so I thought I would just do a catch up.  We had Thanksgiving at our house this year  Brett, Lauri...
