International Friends Thanksgiving Luncheon

Today we hosted the Thanksgiving Luncheon for our International Friends.  Howard and I work every Tuesday morning with International Friends, a ministry of our church.  We teach the girls English, do a Bible lesson and an activity with them.  We like to have them come into our homes and show them some American traditions.

We cook our turkey on a frame outside.  We hang the turkey in a roasting bag and it is cooked by charcoal.  The lighted charcoal is put in the baskets on the legs of a frame.

The turkey is all wired and ready to hangs.

We light charcoal and have the coals hot.

We hang the turkey and then will put the charcoal in the baskets.

When we have the charcoal in the baskets, then we wrap the frame in foil.  We add charcoal about every 30 minutes.  It will take about 3 hours to do a 20 pound turkey.

The tables are set and the house is ready.

The ladies arrive and bring all kinds of food.  Our leaders all bring food to share, also.

 The turkey is done!

We all had a great time.  There were 27 of us here plus  5 babies and toddlers.

Yumiko's Mom is visiting from Japan.  She has never had turkey before.  She thought it was delicious.

We are blessed to be a part of these ladies' lives.  We are thankful we can share our home with them.

  1. Your decorations are beautiful. Looks like plenty of food to share. I am sure they enjoy you all taking time for them each week.

  2. The celebration of Thanksgiving was a perfect way to share our culture with those ladies. From the look of your pictures, everyone was well fed too. GOOD JOB!

  3. I love his turkey!!! Miss you so much!
    Love, Kinue
